The Pros of Aluminum Welding
Weight
Lighter than fiberglass or steel, aluminum provides greater speed, reduced fuel consumption, and greater payload.
Strength
Pound for pound it is stronger than fiberglass or steel. Will outlast both fiberglass and steel under the roughest conditions.
Durability
Aluminum will dent under impact conditions that would rupture or crack steel and fiberglass. Aluminum is also virtually fireproof and will not absorb water.
Repair
Dents can often be pounded out with a hammer or, if necessary, easily cut out and repaired.
Customization
Because aluminum boats are not made from a mold, changes in design and modifications are much easier to accomplish.
Maintenance
Aluminum is corosion resistant and does not need to be painted.
Depreciation
Today's marine grade aluminum is virtually corosion free. The hull will therefore hold its value and in many cases may actually increase in value.
